Derrick bravely signed up for hip hop class without knowing anyone and with no prior dance experience, seeking to embrace something new. His dedication and positive attitude shine through as he even volunteered to showcase a new step as a solo in the dance showcase. Derrick is an excellent example that you can be motivated to be a compassionate, courageous artist at any age!

Do you have advice for younger students or other adults who might be nervous to start something new?
Always strive to grow as a person and learn new things no matter if you are younger or older. I had no dance experience before starting the hip-hop course this fall, but I always wanted to learn. I too was nervous to start, but decided this was for me to learn a new skill and enjoy. That mentality helped me overcome the thought of being embarrassed and subdued my nervousness. After a few months, I am getting better and enjoy dancing even in public.
