What inspired you to join the Mountain City Center for the Arts during your time there?

I had done a dance workshop in NYC as part of Mountain Ridge Drama Club’s trip, participated in the spring musical, and wanted to continue dancing. My parents and I learned of Coty’s return to Frostburg and the opening of MCCA and messaged her to see if she was offering classes. The rest is history!

Can you describe your overall experience at the center? What stands out as the most memorable moment?

My experience at the center was great. I learned so much valuable information that I then took into college and beyond. It provided me with many performance opportunities in the community as well. I remember vividly the very first Halloween parade performance, opening the Bank Building, Dinner Theatre performances at the Hen House Pavilion, and our Christmas Show performances (performing Hot Chocolate was a blast).

What do you miss most about MCCA?

The sense of community and collaboration. The Center provides opportunities for young and adult alike to create magic and art.

What advice would you offer to current students or those considering joining the center?

Keep sharing and creating theatre! Continue telling stories, sing songs in the car, and go see live theatre, music, and dance! We need the arts now more than ever before!

What was your major in college and why did you choose it?

I graduated West Virginia University with my B.F.A in Musical Theatre with a Minor in Dance. The combination of acting, singing, and dancing always fascinated me and the more musicals I did and watched, the more I fell in love with the art form and knew that is what I wanted to do!

Are you still participating in the arts?

Yes, I am! I have had amazing opportunities and have been able to perform professionally across the country and make a living as an actor since 2016.

What do you see yourself doing in 5 to 10 years?

I hope to continue performing and sharing art and creativity, whether that is in theatre, film, commercials, etc.!

What hobbies or interests do you pursue outside of your artistic endeavors?

I am an avid bowler and love playing and learning different board games. My PlayStation and Nintendo Switch also get their fair share of use!
